A belated Six Day War prayer
Excellent Subliminal song, also has French and Hebrew verses in it
If anyone finds a link, please post. I highly recommend listening to it:
We need peace in the middle east, to stop this holy war.
It's a sin to kill in god's name so tell me what are we dying for?
Got eight year old children throwing piercing and rocks
they're scared but not thinking when the screaming stops
villages are tormented as the soldiers march and it's
hardly ever mentioned on the news we watch
broken promises ending in an endless feud Muslims and Jews
next they will be fighting for food and there's no specific reason
why the war at all started out over the religion on the wailing wall
then they blamed it on the land now they say it's revenge
and for every grain of sand yo we pay with our flesh
anytime you got a conflict that finishes in blood
there's no way you can stop it or bring it to how it was
now hate drives the people to a senseless rage
we were all created equal to follow in god's ways
let the past teach us all to exist in peace to hold hands
and stand tall in the middle east please
We need peace in the middle east, to stop this holy war.
It's a sin to kill in god's name so tell me what are we dying for?

good song, how'd you get the lyrics?
ya TRK;
'peace in the middle east,
rain (reign) in Spain' (dunno who)
Dawud from SAFspace's blog;
you're up for a peace deal? i'll write and sign an advertisement (for Hebrew and Arab newspapers, in Europe & America, or if they'll publish them in the middle east ?!?) calling for a return to the 'golden principle' - ie, Rabbi Hillel's 'what is hateful unto thyself, do not unto thy neighbour', Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) 'Love thy neighbour as you love your ownself', and Islam's Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): 'None of you believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself' (with the commentary of Imam Nawawi that 'he loves for his brother[/sister] (in humanity) the good he has found in Islam, and for his brother/[sister] in Islam the best of this world and the hereafter'. Too bad it sounds reasonable, I haven't found any takers - then again, Mr. Thomas Friedland [sic? can't remember] from the NYT hasn't found a taker for 'the IDF & Hamas & Hezbollah [and Mossad & arab nationalist groups & police] are all terrorists' deal he offered to arab journalists...
but if i take heat for this offer, i'd still be willing to put my own name to it. death-warrants, anyone? ;)
and do tell me what you think the Talmud has to offer to a Muslim (insha Allah) who's pleased with the Qur'an and Sunnah as guides, but thinks that bani Isra'il has some good stories to tell (prophetically) ;)
Whew -- who's that guy? Seriously -- I guess I'm getting jaded, cuz the song doesn't pull my heartstrings as it would have years ago.
Truth is, it didn't do anything for me either. Seemed like a naive LSD induced flower children song from the late 60's.
BTW - this song goes against the current grain of the majority of the Israeli public, who just want the Arabs out of sight, out of mind (and assume that that's good enough to obstain some sort of quiet.)
chai18, I took them off the CD cover
Dawud, welcome, I think u lost some of us there! Always happy to hear from you guys though.
b2, don't lose the childlike hope for peace, come what may.
Jameel, I think you are wrong, but I'll let the people there speak for themselves. So many of our prayers and books end with a prayer for peace.

TRK:
Peace starts at home. When the Jews are united, and we do what Hashem commands us to, then our enemies will flee from our swords.
And this is from Devarim, long before the propechy of beating swords into plows.
The Torah speaks of a formula; which is alot easier to reach than the prophecy of Yishayahu.
Why wait for prophecies? Why sing longful songs, when the solution is right at our fingertips.
BTW - "Gush Katif Activism/Nisuy Keilim #2" is coming soon...instead of a full 2 hours of road blocking, it will be a ten minute demonstration at every intersection, all supporters requested to pulling their cars over the the side of the road...
what will u do to drivers who are in a rush or who don't empathize?
TRK: There will always be drivers who don't empathize. 8,000 people have contacted the police to help with the eviction. However, there are 80,000 who would go to Gush Katif to help prevent it.
I would tell drivers that its only for 10 minutes; alot less damaging then any histadrut strike, MDA strike, or IMI strike....and its the least people can do to show their solidarity for Jews who are being kicked out of their homes.
BTW: did you hear about the DRUZI Border Police Commander of Hevron? He resigned from the Border Police, rather than participate in the Eviction.
