The one sin I can't do Teshuva for

(I hope that title piqued your curiosity). As I stood there before G-d, trying to ignore my litany of errors and sins, one big fat gargantuan monster sticks out at me, accusing me, berating me, rebuking me. WHY DO U NOT LIVE IN ISRAEL??? Why are you too lazy and comfortable to get your pasty, white, sweet-potato pie American ass on a NBN flight and move to the Land of the Jews? (I can see Jameel and OC jumping up and down saying "Now that's what I'm talkin' about").

I don't think there is teshuva for this one. The only possible response is to claim that all my Rabbonim chose to stay in the US (to save my aforementioned pasty ass from assimilation?). What's my excuse?

is it a sin for a Jew not to live in Israel? and if so, then all your forefathers who remained in the U.S. all commited an unforgivable sin if there is no teshuva for it, yes? I merely ask as a curious (and obvious) non-Jew.

This comment is meant for TRK and TRK alone, he will understand it, so everyone else, please don't bother to assail me for being insensitive or irreligious because that isn't even relevant-

Dude, don't be a RETARD. You know it.

anonymous, I believe it is a sin, especially when it is so easy to do.

Nathan, good man for speaking your mind.

cb, good to have you back, even if it is only to berate me for my apparent retardation. Have a great fast, come back more often.

Ummm cant do Teshuva for?
There is nothing one cant do teshuva for. However much I agree with CB, the answer is simple - go live in Israel.
There is the issue of emunah and not being able to hack it there, but there are plenty of opportunities in Chu'L (probably more) to be mekarev people and spread The Light among the nations.

Is it really a sin not to live in Israel? Look I really don't understand this post.

TRK- If you feel strongly about it, you really should make the effort to move. You're the one who said you shouldn't wait until you win the lottery to follow your dreams. Go ahead - make aliyah - I dare you.

Chanandler - I really don't think you should call a scion of great rabbis a retard. a specious dilettante perhaps, but not a retard. that's way harsh.

Dude, what you playing at?

As for the rest of us not living in the Holy Land, I have a theory on that, but it's late here, and I'm still light-headed from fasting so it'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Hope y'all had an easier fast than I did... :)

I think a comment of mine was either deleted or did not go up. Mata Hari, there's a reason I said that comment was for TRK alone. No one else was meant to understand it.

I would think that someone who calls himself chanandler bong would be able to take a joke.

According to Maimonides, there is no command to live in Eretz Yisrael, thus no sin.

Nevertheless, I can see, lulei demistafina, the Great Eagle wagging his finger at all us chulniks for staying here (wherever 'here' may be) instead of moving There.

I second Chanandler Bong and Chai. Seriously, are we going to love you any less if you tell us where you really live? No. Gmar Tov and Thank You.

ClooJew: According to the Rambam, living in Eretz Yisrael is a Mitzva Kolelet. Its such an obvious mitzva, that it would never occur to a mitzva-abiding Jew to be anywhere else BUT Eretz Yisrael.

TRK: Teshuva starts with acknowldgement...I guess youre on your way. (And we'll keep the lights on for you). Shimini Atzeret is on a Tuesday, so if you leave Sunday, you'll have no problem.

Moadim L'Simcha!

omg that was a funny post.
do you know what 'teshuva' means?
(coming from a rabbi's kid, im more than a bit surprised)
teshuva-regret (thus u have done), say you are sorry (thus u have done), and make a resolution to change.

you can do teshuva
you do not want to

change the title to 'the one sin i don't want to do teshuva for'
